Objectives and mission

The executive commission International Relations of Univ. Grenoble Alpes aims at developing the international visibility of Univ. Grenoble Alpes. It supports the development of strategic international partnerships, and aims at:
  • Strengthening European partnerships (both existing and new)
  • Identifying new global partnerships
  • Developing networks to support humanities and social sciences
  • Setting up specific partnerships with Francophone Africa
  • Creating and leading a network of innovation university (i2u), together with the executive commission research
  • Tightening partnerships on the Alpine region
  • Improving the ISSO services and internationalization, together with the IDEX partners

The two main levers are:

  • The strengthening of existing relations
  • The identification and implementation of new strategic partnerships in line with our two priorities (humanities & social sciences, and multidisciplinarity)


  • Excellence fellowships to attract incoming students at the Master and PhD levels (together with the executive commission research and the executive commission education)
  • Innovation workshops with strategic European partners (i2u network)
  • Co-funding of high-level projects with strategic partners
  • Coordinated applications to European projects with strategic European partners
  • Support to projects funding through strategic partnerships in the sectors of international relations, research, education
  • ISSO: improvement and development of welcome services for international staff and students, mentorship, intercultural programmes, etc. together with local authorities
  • Contribution to the international promotion of the university

Calls for projects

  • One call for projects is coordinated with the executive commissions research and education. It targets research teams of all IDEX partners and funds high-level projects with international strategic partners: scientific projects with a 50% co-funding from the strategic partner, and supporting the recruitment of PhD students and Masters.
  • Contribution to other IDEX calls for projects presenting an international dimension.
